Research Activities

Currently I am interested in the following Computer Science areas:

Grid Computing:

  • Meta-scheduling and Grid interoperability (meta-brokering)
  • Scheduling and resource management
  • Grid standardization
  • High Performance Computing:

  • Coordinated scheduling and dynamic mapping
  • Co-allocation on clusters and SMP architectures
  • Parallel applications and MPI+OpenMP programming model
  • Distributed Systems and Computer Architecture:

  • Web services technologies
  • OS and queueing systems design
  • Multiprocessor architectures
  • R+D projects management

    Research Projects

    CICYT TIN2007-60625 - [2008-2012]

Computación de altas prestaciones V. Spanish Ministry of Science and Technology

    XtreemOS European Project - [2006-2010]

The XtreemOS project aims at investigating and proposing new services that should be added to current operating systems to build Grid infrastructure in a simple way. Involved mainly in the WP3.3 activities, applications execution environment.

    XtreemOS

Latin American Grid (LAGrid) - [2006-2010]

Involved in the LAGrid Scheduling project that consists of two parts: the development of a meta-scheduling system, and the exploration of job flow technologies.

    LAGrid

CoreGrid European Network of Excellence - [2004-2008]

The network aims to strengthening and advancing scientific and technological excellence in the area of Grid and Peer-to-Peer technologies. Involved in the WP6, Grid Resource Management and Scheduling.

    CoreGrid

Red Temática para la Coordinación de Actividades Middleware en GRID - [2004-2008]

This is a national initiative to coordinate the different activities regarding Grid technologies which are taken at different research institutions and universities in Spain.

    RedTematica

    eNANOS (internal BSC project)

This project aims at integrating different previously developed elements to develop an execution platform for parallel applications on a computational Grid. The objective of this platform is to provide support to implement and evaluate scheduling strategies on a computational Grid.

    eNANOS

    CICYT TIN2004-07739-C02-01 - [2004-2007]

Computación de altas prestaciones IV. Spanish Ministry of Science and Technology

Pan-European Research Infrastructure on High Performance Computing (HPC-Europa) - [2003-2006]

Involved in the JRA2 activity Single Point of Access. The main goal of this activity is to provide a uniform way for accessing to a set of different Virtual Organizations and HPC centers in Grid environments.
