Garcia Vidal graduated as Telecomunications Engineer in 1988 (UPC, Barcelona)
and holds a Ph. D. in Telecommunications (UPC, 1992, Best UPC Telecommunication
Thesis Award). During 1992-93 he was a visiting scientist at University of
Arizona (M. F. Neuts). Since 2003 he is full professor at the Computer
Architecture Department of UPC, where he is head of the Computer Networking Research Group . His current research interests are
cooperative networking, ad-hoc and sensor networks, software implementation of
networking protocols and performance evaluation of computer systems. Currently,
he participates in the project EuroFI from the 7th Framework Program and in the
spanish project TSI2007-66869-C02-01. He lectures courses on Computer Networks in
the Computer Science School (FIB) of UPC, and he is coordinator of the
Networking and Operating System specialization of FIB. He is member of the
editorial board of Ad-Hoc Networks journal.
