Welcome to my webpage!

I am a tenured assistant professor (Professor Agregat) in the Department of Computer Architecture (DAC) at the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC), Barcelona, Spain. In the past, I held tenure-track lecturer (Professor Lector) and adjunct professor (Professor Ajudant) positions in the same department. My Ph.D. thesis, entitled "Resource Management in GMPLS-Controlled Hybrid OBS/OCS Transport Networks" (UPC, June 2009), obtained an Excellent Cum Laude qualification with Doctor Europeus mention.

I am a member of the Broadband Communications Systems and Architectures (CBA) Research Group. I focus on the performance optimization of innovative 5G data transport network infrastructures. This includes the modeling ultra-high capacity optical transmission systems, e.g., realizing Spatial Division Multiplexing (SDM), evaluating state-of-the-art optical switching paradigms on top of them. I am also interested in evaluating the benefits of the clean-slate Recursive Inter-Network Architecture (RINA) as an alternative to the current TCP/IP protocol stack for the Future Internet. I have been involved in a significant number of European and Spanish research projects on the aforementioned topics over the last 15 years.

Regarding my teaching duties, I am currently giving Programació i Estructures de Dades (data structure programming in C) and Programació Orientada a Objectes (object oriented programming in Java) in the Escola Tècnica Superior d'Enginyeria de Telecomunicació de Barcelona (ETSETB), the Telecom Engineering School of the UPC in Barcelona.
