Rafael Paoliello Guimarães was born in Vitória, ES, Brasil. It's the capital of the state of Espírito Santo and really close to Rio de Janeiro (I think that this is the one of the best reference points in Brazil!). There, he has obtained his Computer Engineering Barchelor Degree by the Federal University of Espírito Santo (UFES) in 1999 and then moved to Campinas (a city in the state of São Paulo) to undertake a Master of Science program in Telecom and Telematics in the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP). He obtained his M.Sc. degree in January 2002 with a Master Thesis called Desenvolvimento de Sistemas TINA usando a linguagem de especificação formal SDL com geração automática de código Java, or better in english: Development of TINA Systems by using the SDL formal specification language with automatic Java Code Generation. Then, after teaching for almost 2 years in the Faculty of Aracruz (in Espírito Santo), he moved to Barcelona, Spain and is currently a Ph.D. Student at UPC. He is now a member of the Computer Networking Research Group and is currently working on the WIDENS european project. His main interests are mobile networks, mainly on quality of service for wireless ad-hoc networks. |
