very much like an Egyptian pyramid with millions of bricks piled on top of
each other, with no structural integrity, but just done by brute force and
thousands of slaves" -Alan Kay |

the value of everything, but the cost of nothing. . " -Alan Perlis |

I am a PhD student in Computer Architecture Department in UPC, Barcelona. My primary research area is exploring techniques for speeding up single threaded applications on CMPs. I am working with Prof. Antonio González and Dr. Pedro Marcuello.
My occasional frustration with the difficulty in finding/exposing parallelism in irregular applications written in imperative languages like C, often leads me to study the foundations of programming languages which has so far kept me very interested in times when I am not doing research on architecture. Apart from this I am also interested in studying about efficient algorithms. Since the time I have started my graduate studies my mean cerebral temperature has risen by a few degrees and I do this and this to cool it down. I also maintain a blog here.
