    I have been visiting UCDavis several times since I'm collaborating with several research groups, including Prof. Mukherjee and Prof. S. J. B. Yoo. My last visit was during spring 2017 when I was working on monitoring devices for optical networking. In my previous visit in summer 2016 I was working on the application of data analytics and optimization techniques to heterogeneous networks.

    Intune Networks
    During this six-month stay, from August 2012 till February 2013, I studied OBS technology applied to metro ring-based networks. The stay was within the framework of the MAINS and IDEALIST EU projects. A planning tool was developed to design metro networks based on Intune's Optical Packet Switch & Transport (OPST) technology. Many applications can benefit from the OPST technology, such as video on demand, distributed data-centers, software-defined networks, and many more.

    British Telecom Innovate & Design (BT)
    This stage was done in December 2011 within the framework of the EU Strongest project. The main focus was to study how flexgrid-based networks could reduce the CAPEX, not only of core optical networks, but also of IP/MPLS-based metro networks. The results of that study, presented at ECOC 2012, were used to support the rationale behind the flexgrid technology in the Idealist project proposal.

    Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) - Optical Networks Lab (ONLab)
    I have done several research stages in Kista during 2009-2011 (2 months in total). Several works related to Impairments at the optical layer of DWDM networks were carried out during that period, and as a result of this fruitful collaboration 2 journal papers and 2 papers in international conferences were published.

    Telefónica I+D (TID)
    In addition to our collaboration in several European projects, I was involved in the Vision project, an Spanish founded project. During my two-month stay in Telefonica I+D in 2009 I participated in the development of the diameter-based control plane to control resources and take care of QoS in the optical core network. Furthermore, integration tests with other subsystems were carried out during this stay. The Vision project got a high qualification from the reviewers and we published one journal paper explaining the novelty of the proposed architecture and main results.
