Ramon Bertran is a PhD student at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center. His research is focused on power and performance modelling techniques for multi-core architectures based on Performance Monitoring Counters (PMC). He has contributed with a novel methodology to produce accurate, decomposable, responsive ‐‐in overall, more informative‐‐ power and performance models, and overpassing the new research challenges introduced by recent multi‐core architectures. The methodology has been validated on virtualized environments and with the Dynamic Voltage and Frequency Scaling (DVFS) mechanism proposing also DVFS agnostics power models, capable of predicting the power consumption for any DVFS level. He has published several papers in journals and conferences and he is preparing his PhD defense in the Computer Architecture Department of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya.

SHORT BIO

 

Marc Gonzalez currently works as Associate Professor in the Computer Architecture Department of the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya. He received the Engineering degree in Computer Science in 1996 and the Computer Science PhD degree on December 2003. His research includes parallel programming models and high performance computing, in particular, the OpenMP programming model. His recent research is focused on parallel programming and computer architecture for heterogeneous architectures, based on accelerators and local memories. The main research activities are the design and implementation of software cache techniques for local memories and specific hardware support for efficient usage of this element, as well as performance, power and energy modelling techniques for multi‐core processors. He has published more than 40‐refereed papers in conferences and journals.
